Tannin Removal in East Corinth, VT

Tannins are organic acids from decaying leaves and plant matter. They turn well water a yellow or tea color and can give it an earthy taste. They are common in shallow wells near swamps, wetlands and peat soils. They are not a health threat, but they stain laundry and fixtures. East Corinth, VT Well Water Treatment provides tannin removal in East Corinth, VT.

Tannins are tricky because they look like iron. A simple test helps: fill a clear glass and let it sit. If the color settles to the bottom, it is likely iron. If the water stays evenly tinted, tannins are probably the cause.

How we treat tannins:

• A tannin system using macroporous anion exchange resin, regenerated with salt brine
• A softener installed ahead of the tannin unit, because hardness can foul the resin
• Oxidation and carbon filtration for some lighter cases

Iron and tannins often show up together, and that changes the order of equipment. Well water testing for color, iron, manganese and hardness lets us set it up correctly.
